Richard Miltenberger

Until May 2024, Richard Miltenberger served as the CEO of Mountain Health CO-OP, a health insurance cooperative serving almost 60,000 members across Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Following graduation from Southern Methodist University, Richard pursued a career in health insurance, going to work for a TPA in the 1980s. He was awarded the “Certified Employee Benefits Specialist” designation by the Wharton School of Business in 1985. Following tours with Mercer and United Healthcare, as well as Willis Knighton Hospital, Miltenberger accepted a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He later started (and sold) a benefits consulting company. Richard serves as Board Chair of Montana State Fund and has served on the boards of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, the Montana Club, the Montana Reinsurance Association, and other organizations. He is a frequent speaker at healthcare industry conferences. Richard resides in Clancy and has six adult children, 11 grandkids, and two aging cats.
